Direct Buy Club

February 6, 2009

As the economic situation gets worse and worse, and our elected representatives would rather bicker about what is better – tax cuts or relief spending – rather than, you know, actually fixing things, situations are looking bleak. It doesn’t help that as I write this, there is a gray sky and no clouds.

However there are still a few ways to save a bit of money. Direct Buy Clubs are a significant way to save. There employees are actually positive, and their products are high quality, so they will be able to valuable in case anything may happen.

There are a lot of things to consider at this point, and one of the major thoughts of mind, especially amongst people whose children are grown up, and they are now living in a large, empty house, and paying a mortgage for that large empty house is selling it for some profit, and moving into a new, smaller home. To do that, you may need to touch up some parts of your home and this is where Direct Buy can come in.

Halfway Through Winter

January 12, 2009

As I am Miami based, we have been enjoying the wonderful weather we have received throughout this month. With the exception of a few days, it has mostly been in the 80s, bright & sunny. I actually have enjoyed a few dinners out on the patio this week.

Unfortunately, due to the economy, thoughts of moving have been on a lot of my friends’ minds. The problem is most areas hiring are areas that are cold. I do not envy them if they move. Of course Miami could be underwater in 10 years, so they may be on to something.

In Home Exercise

June 25, 2008

Lately its been pouring as I have arived home, so my much awaited summer jogs and swims have had to be canceled.  I do not enjoy this.  I wait all summer long to be able to hop into the pool, swim a few laps, work on my tan, and work out.  I also enjoy running through the neighborhood, with or without my dog.  Because of the weather, these have had to been canceled.

I don’t believe in buying exercise equipment.  I have seen far too many cases of them ending up in a garage, covered in dust, used less than 5 times.  I refuse to waste money like that.  The same goes with a gym membership.  Paying to use equipment that I’ll probably be too lazy to get out to is not something I would do.  So, I enjoy free exercise around my home.  Now I’m stuck doing it in my home.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy sit ups and cruches as much as the next person, but to be honest, I like to follow those up with a jog or swim.  Not staring at the pouring rain outside my window.  Today has been bright, hopefully it continues until I get home.

If the power is on…

June 9, 2008

Then the AC is out.

As you may recall from last week, the power in my building went out briefly, which caused a major issue with our network, email, and morale.  This week, I walk into the usually frigid, now sweltering lobby to discover that is the case around the whole building.  This doesn’t exactly make my morning coffee enjoyable.

Fortunately its been overcast all morning.  Otherwise the building would be a hotbox where all of us would be tortured on top of the usual monotony of our jobs, and obnoxious Hispanic neighbors.

Days Without End

May 30, 2008

My co-workers and I joke about how certain days fluctuate in relativity to time.  Maybe it is because we came back from a three day weekend, but Tuesday seemed to go by in just a few hours.  I did enjoy my weekend, by the way.  Got some sun, my yard got some rain, and my wife made some great pina coladas.  And again, Tuesday went by so fast, I was back at home.  However the rest of the week has seemed to drag on as if no end is in sight.  More so after lunch.  We’ll just be sitting there taking care of what seems like hours worth of work will have taken place, and when we look at the clock, only 15 minutes have taken place.

At least another weekend is upon us, which means relaxing, trying out a new seasonal beer, and hoping the weekend goes by as slowly as the week has.

Low Visibility Due to Elements

May 19, 2008

If you have been paying attention to Florida, and I’m not talking about that stupid idea to split Florida into two states, it is in a drought. For the whole year, Lake Okeechobee has been at a record low, rain fall has been at an record low, and we were in a record high for temperature.

This drought has impacted this state and the crazy whackos that live in it. Some nutjob set fire to a house in Palm Bay, which ended up burning a large portion of the city. Fires have also broken out throughout the everglades. These two events have caused a wave of smoke to fill the air of Miami. While we will have days of humidity and fog that covers the landscape and you can’t even see out your front door, this is a thick cloud of smoke that makes everything smell like a bad barbeque.

Luckily we are had some rain today. We need it, not just to help protect us from this fire, but eleviate the water restrictions that have hit us, and turn our lawns from the decaying brown to a vibrant green.

Of course the hypocrisy is, once the rain starts, people will be complaining that they want it to stop. “Its summer in Miami, I want to go to the beach, but I can’t because its raining!” Too bad. How about instead of clogging our city with your formerly pale, now bright pink skin, you contribute something worthy of this state. I’d like to follow that up, but truthfully, if there is someone in this state that thinks the government is willing to make a 51 state flag all because of some rednecks, they should stand in the middle of I-75 and stare at the sun until someone hits them.
